Joshua Jacobs

Nature Conservation is a great passion of mine I have always had a special place in my heart for animals and wildlife. I have been keeping animals since the age of 6 when I got my first dog whom was a rescue and then my first reptile which was a Leopard Gecko which I got at the age of 7 and still have to this day. I have kept over 30 different types of animals from large freshwater fish to all sort of birds, mammals and many different types of reptiles including snakes, lizards and tortoises. I have learnt a lot about these animals that I have kept and I wish to continue learning at the next level by working with as many species as possible. I am proactive and dedicated, I honed my skills in time management and heavy load carrying at RW Computer Cabling. Known for my willingness to learn and exceptional endurance, I enhanced project timelines by mastering new techniques and collaborating effectively, contributing significantly to construction project successes. Yes I am young and do not have much experience but I make up for that with a can do attitude as well as being fit and able to work long periods of time. I am very keen and excited to start working and I would love if that was for your Zoo. My dream would be to work as a Conservation Ranger or Zoo Keeper at the Australia Zoo but I completely understand if that is not possible with my lack of experience I would be ecstatic to work in any area within the Australia Zoo. I saw there is a Leaf Cutter position available I would be more than happy to work in that position or any that the Zoo would offer me.

As I said I have kept many different types of animals for over a decade. I have kept over 100 types of fish, I had 8 aquariums at one stage and bred many types of fish. I have also had many types of birds including parrots and an avery which had 10 different species of birds. I have kept many mammals as well as bred rabbits and guinea pigs. I have kept many different types of reptiles including boas, pythons, kingsnakes, many different types of geckos and a couple species of tortoises. I have kept pets almost all my life and I wish to expand this into many more wildlife species of flora and fauna.

As much as I love animals and wildlife I also have a passion for plants and gardening. I have grown many types of plants including fruit trees and something I focused on for a while which was chilli peppers I had over 10 different types at one stage. I enjoy being outside and I am a very neat person so I love fixing up the garden and making sure everything is where it should be.

I love being outside and in nature just exploring and being surrounded by the wilderness it is where I feel the most like myself. I try to hike as much as possible but there are not many safe trails near where I live but hopefully when I get to Australia when I am not working I will be hiking and exploring your guys amazing wilderness.
